Dear 5B families,
I hope you are doing well! Here's what we have going on this week: UOI We continue with our studies on astronomy this week. We'll be looking more closely at how the orbit of the Earth affects our planet from daily patterns to yearly patterns and our weather and climate. The planetarium at Hartnell College is closed for field trip until January. There is an evening opportunity for families this coming Saturday night at the Fremont Peak Observatory outside of San Juan Baptista at 8:00pm. Here is the information for it. It would be cancelled if the weather would impede vision with the telescope. Language Arts The novel we will be reading should be arriving this week. It's called Every Soul a Star by Wendy Mass. We will also continue with spelling this week. Math We will look at volume this week. Students will learn about the formula for volume and apply it to 3-dimensional shape (rectangular prisms) they find in everyday life. Tuesday will be a "Mix It Up Lunch". In our case, 3 -5th grade students and teachers will be sitting with students from a mix of these grade levels rather than just our own grade level. This Friday is Free Dress Friday. Halloween is on the horizon. The administration sent out emails last week regarding the parade and costume guidelines. Following the parade we will have a class Halloween party where students can share healthy snacks they bring in while reading the stories they wrote around a mock camp fire. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Wishing you all a wonderful week! Warm regards, Ms. Beletti
